Fifty Peso Previews: 2011 NBA Playoffs East

NBA fans' favorite time has come. It's the start of the NBA playoffs 1 night from tonight and let's weigh in on the first round results starting with the Eastern Conference.

Chicago Bulls (1) vs Indiana Pacers (8)

Never mind the history of 8th seeds beating the 1st seeds. This series will be won by the Bulls. They are too talented defensively for the Pacers, who I consider one of the teams that defend better only when the shoot great.  The Bulls are playing at too high a level to let the Pacers get their offense going and Derrick Rose is just astounding with his stellar MVP-candidate play.  It will be a tough climb for the Pacers and I can only see them win a game if at all.

Fearless Forecast: Bulls take series (4 games to 1)

Miami Heat (2) vs Philadelphia 76ers (7)

The Heat have continually claimed that they were only concerned about the playoffs and not the regular season and it's time to prove if they are championship caliber.  The Heat will slide through to the 2nd round, mainly on their talent, but these 76ers are a renewed bunch under Coach Doug Collins, and if Elton Brand can dominate the inside like he did before they may get a game or two before bowing out.

Fearless Forecast: Heat take series (4 games to 2)

Boston Celtics (3) vs New York Knicks (6)

Much has been made about how the Celtics have gone soft without Kendrick Perkins, and while that may be true, they will be tough enough early in the playoffs. The Celtics will have their trademark defensive toughness against the Knicks who are softer at best.  The Knicks may get a game simply because of awesome scorers like Carmelo Anthony and Amare Stoudemire, but it's safe to say the Celtics will meet the Heat in the second round.

Fearless Forecast: Celtics take series (4 games to 1)

Orlando Magic (4) vs Atlanta Hawks (5)

Usually the 4 versus 5 match up is the most exciting of the lot, but is there a team on a worse losing tear than the Hawks?  The Hawks have not added on to their team, hoping an added year together would mean improvement, but if the last 10 games are the gauge, this team needs help.  Battling the Orlando Magic will probably not help, as the Magic will finally get to test their revamped line up.  Look for the Magic to dominate inside out.  The Magic though, blow hot and cold on 3 point shooting and they may yield just a game or two in Atlanta.
